The Des Moines Leader (Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa) erwähnt Bruckner auf S. 11 in einem anekdotischen Artikel über Johann Strauß:

It is somewhat remarkable that Vienna should have lost three of its four great composers–Brahms, Bruckner and Strauss–within three years. Goldmarck [sic] now has the field all to himself. The Viennese relate that the late Johann Strauss had a great aversion to getting old or hearing any discussion of age [...]."
