Exactly as with Brahms, Dvorak and Anton Bruckner the symphony has expired (except as a mechanical exercise on the part of certain astonishing musical mathematicians and well-advertised pretenders of greater or less talent to impose themselves on critics and on the public), exactly as the string-quartet [...
