The Cincinnati Enquirer Nr. 227 erwähnt auf S. 31 Bruckner in einem Nachruf:
"               IN MUSIC'S DOMAIN.
During the past week the musical world was interested in the announcement of the death of Edward [sic] Hanslick, the eminent Viennese critic. Eduard Hanslick had by nature and education all the qualifications to fit him for the greatest music critic of all times. [...] Hanslick has been called the "ideal conservative," but he was not that, because he allowed himself to become the leader of an aggressive campaign against progress in music, as represented by Wagner, Liszt, Bruckner and their later followers. [...] he took an active part in proclaiming Brahms as the legitimate successor of Beethoven as against the claims that were made by the enthusiasts for Wagner. For many years Hanslick was an acrimonious and persistent enemy of Wagner, whose music he characterized as devoid of melody and full of meaningless noise. However, Wagner's appreciation forged ahead, and reached the top notch in spite of Hanslick." (*).

Das Neue Wiener Tagblatt Nr. 225 berichtet auf S. 12 von der gestrigen Aufführung der 4. Symphonie in Salzburg (höchstes Lob für Mottl) (**).
