The New York Times Nr. 17892 bespricht auf S. 23 Weingartners Buch über Symphoniker nach Beethoven:
"                THE MODERN SYMPHONY
SYMPHONY WRITERS SINCE BBETHOVEN. By Felix Weingartner. From the German by Arthur Bles. [...].
THE brilliant German conductor is a thinker as well as a musician, [... "second translation" ...]. It is not the work of a skillful translator. It is full of awkward and unfortunate paraphrases of the original. It also shows none too great familiarity with German. Bruckner's name is invariably misspelled "Brückner " throughout; the ungrammatical form "leit-motiven" is continually used, and there are other errors.
[... die 2. Übersetzung enthält nicht Weingartners Korrekturen (in der 1. Übersetzung als Fußnote), die Brahms betreffen ... Berlioz, Liszt ...]. His remarks about Schumann, Bruckner, Strauss are especially illuminating."
