"    THE BOSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
Restitution being impossible, under the circumstances, Dr. Muck made amends which which were most honorable last night for the olla podrida programme which he provided for the subscribers of the Boston Symphony concerts at their first meeting a month ago. Instead of again dallying with the three B's–Bruckner, Bach and Beethoven–merely for the sake of the dalliance, he permitted his audience to hear a symphony by the composer whom von Bülow associated with the two classical masters when he originated the play on composer's initials–he brought forward the second symphony by Brahms. [... zur Freude der Hörer ...]. Not only did Dr. Muck give them Brahms to make them forget Bruckner–or at least forgive him–he also gave them Paderewski as the solo performer in Beethoven's E flat concerto. [...].
