The Minneapolis Tribune Nr. 9 (Star Tribune, Minneapolis, Minnesota) bringt auf S. 26 den Bericht eines amerikanischen Geigers von seinen Europa-Aufenthalt:
"WILLIAM MACPHAIL HAS RETURNED FROM EUROPE
Wliliam [sic] MacPhail, the violonist, has recently returned from six months in Europe. [...] Mr. MacPhail left Minneapolis in March and reached Berlin in time for the tag end of the musical season.
"I heard Nevin's opera 'Poia' in Berlin," said Mr. MacPhail," and it was really a pitiable fiasco, [...]. I also heard 'Elektra,' with Strauss as conductor, and many other operas. At Prague I heard the Ceska Philharmonie play Bruckner's Seventh symphony, and the performance was in no way comparable with that given the same work last season by the Minneapolis orchestra [10.12.1909; siehe die Anmerkung]. Technically, tonally and interpretatively, it seemed amateurish compared to the work of our own organization.
"I spent several months in Prague with my old teacher, Scevik [sic], working hard [...]."
