The San Francisco Examiner Nr. 99 kündigt auf S. 8 eine Konzertserie an, die bewusst auf Brahms und Bruckner verzichtet:
"VICTOR HERBERT COMING TO S. F.
             BY REDFERN MASON.
We have been so saturated with music of the more exacting sort during this Exposition year that the San Francisco public begins to show signs of esthetic indigestion. [...] it is possible to have too much of a good thing, and music-lovers will thank their stars that the last manifestation of the Exposition Muse is to be a light-hearted one.
Victor Herbert is coming. [... Orchester 60 Mann, eine Woche Konzerte ab 1.11.1915 ...].     This will be no series of concerts for the pale-browed idealist, though even he, if his wishing-cap be on, may take delight in them. It will be such music, to quote Mr. Greenbaum, as Fritz Scheel regaled our folk withal in the days when the Vienna Prater rejoiced the frequenters of the Midwinter Fair. In place of Richard Strauss, we shall have Bizet; Brahms and Bruckner will be replaced by Massenet, Lehar and Von Suppe; Beethoven is represented [... Scherzo der 8. Sinfonie ...].
The point which the Herbert concerts may confidently be expected to prove is that music may be light of foot yet delightful to listen to. [...]."
