     Already there is incomprehension. Here we see little in Bruckner and Mahler, so admired in Vienna; and nothing in Pfitzner and Schreker, idols of Berlin. In Paris they howl down Malipiero, the Italian, and Schönberg, the Austrian. In America they gaze with friendliness but incomprehension on Vaughan Williams, the Englishman."
