The New York Herald Nr. 348 schildert auf S. 28 (= S. 2 des 2. Teils) die Situation in Österreich:
"AUSTRIA GAINS HOPE OF STANDING ALONE AND OF WINNING BACK TO PROSPERITY
[... Politisches, Wirtschaftliches, gesellschaftliches und kulturelles Leben ...].
     Vienna is a nursery of music. Mozart, Johann Strauss (the waltz king), Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, Schubert, Mahler were either born here or spent part of their lives in Vienna. Among the universally known living composers Richard Strauss, the writer of Salome and the Rosenkavalier, Schoenberg and his highly gifted disciple, Anton von Webern, and Korngold, author of the famous opera "Die tote Stadt," deserve to be specially mentioned.
     The concerts and recitals are excellent, and there are two famous orchestras, [... Südamerikatournee der Philharmoniker ... Kursverfall der Krone ... Theater, Universität ... Wert eines Viertel Weins als heimliche Währung ... Mode, Sport, Verkehrswesen ...]."
