The Standard Union Nr. 104 (Brooklyn, New York) kommentiert auf S. 29 (= S. 9 des 2. Teils) die Programmplanung des New York Philharmonic Orchestra:
"                 World of Music
[... Arnold Bax über den Bratschisten Lionel Tertis ... amerikanische Komponisten bei Walter Damrosch (New York Symphony Orchestra) ...]
Many Modern Composers Dropped from Philharmonic Programmes
The Philharmonic Society [... 82. Saison ...] has taken a new step in symphonic procedure by advance publication of its programmes for the entire season [... 25.10.1923 bis 6.4.1924 ...].
An analysis of the season's programmes thus issued in advance reveals the following facts ans figures:
Seventy concerts are scheduled in several series [... Orte und Wochentage, 45 Komponisten mit 120 Werken ...].
The wishes of the late Joseph Pulitzer, whose bequest of $1,000,000 to the Philharmonic in 1911 carried with it a request that the testator's favorite composers be given frequent hearings, are still to be respected. These favorites are Beethoven, Wagner and Liszt. [... Tschaikowsky, Beethoven, Brahms ...].
The rest of the field are grouped in following wise:
Four works each, [... Aufzählung der Namen ... drei, zwei und ein Werk ...].
All of which would seem to confirm those underbuzzings of comment which have been heard in music circles since Mr. Van Hoogstraten's accession to the Philharmonic baton. It has frequently been stated by certain wise men of the orchestra world that this young Hollander, utterly unknown in his own country, was not of Philharmonic stature. In other words, that his musicianship was solid but his repertory circumscribed. [... Programmplanung bestätigt das ... im Februar 1924 wird Mengelberg kommen ...]. Conspicuously absent are the names of such distinguished contemporaries as d'Indy, Elgar, Schreker, [... 24 Namen ...] and many other living men of distinctive talent. Of the "moderns" not now living, to name but a few, where are Hugo Wolf, Mahler, Chausson, Bruckner, Reger, Scriabin, also that ancient modern–Josef Haydn?
"The Philharmonic Society has always been the conservator of classic, and forerunner of all that is significant in modern music," wrote the late Mr. Huneker in his retrospect [... Novitäten unter früheren Dirigenten von Anton Seidl (1892) bis Josef Stransky (1922) ...].     The 1923-24 programmes of Messrs. Van Hoogstraten and Mengelberg are themselves nothing if not a "retrospect" upon Philharmonic programmes of other years. [... Henry Hadley wird amerikanische Werke bringen ...]."
