Rothwell Conducts Bruckner Fourth; Steeb Triumphs With Strauss

     It was an entirely new evening at the Philharmonic concert Thursday night. [...] the most casual listener might well ask, Why do we know so little of such a noble musician? [... wohlwollende Besprechung ...].

     It is apparent upon looking back upon Thursday night's impressive performance why Buckner is seldom played. A conductor must have the same big qualities of mind and simplicity of heart. It is apparent, too, that Mr. Rothwell approached this Bruckner with prayer and reverence. The orchestra responded with its best.

     Olga Steeb played the Srauss [sic] "Burlesque" with the orchestra. [... Lob, auch für den Pauker ...]."
