The Cincinnati Enquirer Nr. 238 bringt auf S. 6 Filmbesprechungen von George Leighton, in deren einer auch Bruckner erwähnt wird:
" PHOTOPLAY REVIEWS.
[... Überblick über die besprochenen Filme (6 Titel) ... die einzelnen Filmtheater ... im "Strand" gibt es vor dem Film ] a Vitaphone reproduction of a performance by a quintet of negroes. Expecting nothing, the reviewer allowed the caption of identification to pass unnoticed, an oversight which now is regretted, as the offering surpasses in merit the rest of the show. Of the quintet [... 1 Tenor, 2 Tänzer, 1 Pianist ...], but there is s fifth member, one who plays the drums–lots of durms [sic]. And how he does play them! To see and hear him is to desire no greater pleasure out of life than that which he gets from his own performance. And, in this line, he is a preeminent artist, one who could enliven even a presentation of a Mahler or Bruckner symphony, could "high art" relax to human levels.
Little space is now left for comment on the feature, "Lucky Star," with Charles Farrell and Janet Gaynor in principal roles. [... über diesen und einen weiteren Film ...].
GEORGE LEIGHTON."
