" HALLE CONCERTS
The "Unfamiliar Works"
WILLIAM L. NORMAN.
[... 2. Brief:]
Sir,–It is with great disappointment that I note the alterations in the programmes for the coming session of the Hallé Concerts. Moreover, it is astounding that a society of the musical status of the Hallé Concerts Society should make the unwise decision of omitting from the programmes of their concert works by Bruckner, Debussy, and Delius on the ground that unfamiliar works are not appreciated by the majority of subscribers. This stick-in-the-mud policy is deplorable. [... nur noch die vertrauteste Musik spielen? ...]. Are these the lines along which musical culture is to progress in this city?–Yours, &c.,
RUTH M. LISBONA.
