Klose besucht eine Aufführung von Calderons »Dame Kobold« (*). Bruckner allein [? zumindest ohne Klose] bei Gause (*a).

Im Konzertbericht der New York Tribune Nr. 14708 auf S. 5 wird in der 2. Spalte Bruckner erwähnt:
"                   PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY.
[... über das vierte Philharmonische Konzert am 19.2.1887 ... Zweifel am Sinn der Soloinstrumente in Saint-Saens' Orgelsymphonie (Orgel, Klavier) ...] We have also heard the whole modern instrumental apparatus (down almost to the "tongs and bones" which Bully Bottom called for to satisfy his "reasonable good ear in music") employed on modern symphonies without a word of explanation. Even Bruckner's Wagnerian tubas failed to provoke a riot.
In these cases generally the justification is found in the music itself, [... bei Saint-Saens für die Orgel gegeben, aber nicht für das Klavier ... keine Orgelsymphonie, dafür Brahms' 2. Klavierkonzert der Symphonie angenähert ...]." [keine Signatur] (**).
