Konzert eines Prager Vereins, zu dem Bruckner als Organist eine Einladung erhalten hatte, der er jedoch nicht Folge leistete (*).

Die Zeitung "St. Louis Post-Dispatch" Nr. 13 kündigt auf S. 25f das Konzert vom 1.12.1891 mit dem "Te deum" an:

     The "Te Deum" rendered on this day is one which has put its composer in the front ranks of the great musicians and it breathes throughout the inspiration of its creator. Standing as it does beside the compositions of all of the greatest musicians of days and centuries past, it loses nothing by the comparison and presents what in the nineteenth century is a rarity - originality of conception and execution. It has been submitted to the severest and most scorching criticism of the greatest critics of the world and has received nothing but praises and has been stamped as the life achievement of its composer, Anton Bruckner of Vienna. It is typical of the age in which it was written and portrays the mental attitude of the nineteenth century most vivdly. It is an exemplification of a thinking age and carries the picture through from the beginning to the triumphant end. Speaking of this great composition a competent critic said:

     "The Te Deum of Bruckner is of the new school, and in it may be recognized many of the old peculiarities which distinguish the music of the Wagner cult. Strange dissonances there are, coming without premonition or preparation, having no apparent connection with what goes before or what follows; passages having, to untrained ears, neither melody nor harmony; chords harsh, seemingly unmeaning; sequences which follow nothing; preparations which are resolved into nothing; carefully studied strains, bearing every evidence of close thought, which, nevertheless end in disappointment. At one time or another all usage is violated; where a pianissimo may confidently be expected, aforte comes instead; where a climax may be anticipated, the harmonies die away into silence, Here and there the expression of the composer'sthought is so forced, so violent, so strained as to remind one of the imprisoned giant in the Freiburg organ, trying to sing, but hampered by the want of adequate expression. The composer has thoughts he tries to express, but cannot; music is inadequate, He is in doubt, doubt which he is unable to solve, and for page after page struggles on until finally the light appears.

     "The solos and chorus blend and conflict at times in strange series of uncertainties, but in the end the composer sends up his song of praise und rejoicing in the most impressive ans triumphant strains ever uttered by human voices."

     The 400 voices to carry the chorus have been for weeks training and practicing and the soloists are perfectly prepared. After the concert the Archbishop's benediction will be given." (**).

Die ebenfalls in St. Louis erscheinende Westliche Post Nr. 333 teilt auf S. 8 in der 2. Spalte nur das Programm mit [auf Bruckners Werk wird nicht eigens eingegangen]:

     Der morgen stattfindenden imposanten Feier des 50jährigen Bischof=Jubiläums unseres Erzbischofs Kenrick folgt am Dienstag eine gleichfalls in großartigem Maßstabe entworfene Nachfeier, die am Abend mit einer Festlichkeit im großen Musiksaale des Ausstellungsgebäudes schließen wird. Für letztere ist folgendes Programm aufgestellt worden:

   1. Huldigungs-Marsch, von Wagner ..... Orchester
