"          PAUR COMING TO LEAD.
Leipsic Director Soon to Succeed Nikisch–Has Exceptional Talent in the Line of Concert Music.

A Conductor for the Boston symphony orchestra has been found [... Qualifikation, Lebenslauf ... auch in Leipzig Nachfolger Nikischs, in Wien unter Hans Richter und Herbeck an der Hofoper ...].
Speaking of the Italian benevolent concert, in his Leipsic letter to the New York Musical Courier, August Gussbacher says:
"The Bruckner symphony, 7, E Major, filled the first part of the program of the Liszt Verein, and also tested the endurance of the audience, the performance of that work requiring about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Mr. Paur conducted and the interpretation this pretentious composition received was wonderful, considering his material (the orchestra of the 134th regiment at best can only be ranked as second class), In this work, as well as in the closing number, Liszt's symphonic poem 'Tasso.' the precision of attack and accuracy in obedience to the conductor's interpretation, showed the best drilling of all the orchestra concerts heard here this season.
In another portion of his letter Gussbacher says:
"If director Paur can obtain his leave, I most heartily congratulate America, and Boston in particular, on securing so worthy a successor to Nikisch. [... weitere Belege ... zur Person Emil Paurs und seiner Frau ...]." (**).
