Die auch in Australien schon mehrfach mitgeteilte Anekdote von der Audienz bei Kaiser Franz Joseph erscheint auch in "The Western Australian Goldfields Courier" (Coolgardie, Western Australia) auf S. 24:
"[...]
A curiously naif request is attributed to the late Anton Bruckner, the Viennese composer, on the occasion of an audience with the Emperor Francis Joseph, who had conferred a decoration upon him, "Have you anything else to ask of me?" demanded the Emperor, adding, as Bruckner hesitated, "Come, do not be afraid to speak out." Whereupon the composer, in his broadest Viennese accent, blurted out, "If your Majesty would only stop Hanslick, the musical critic of the Neue Freie Press, from attacking me any more in that paper, I should be deeply grateful." Hanslick, it may be added, is one of the most vitriolic of the Continental critics."
