Aufführung eines "Tantum ergo" [prov. WAB 48] in der Braunauer Stadtpfarrkirche (*).

Aufführung des "Ave Maria" [WAB 6?] im Weihnachtskonzert in der [Leipziger?] Peterskirche, das vom Organisten Barblan veranstaltet wird. Bei anderen Programmnummern wirken Frl. Bachofen (Gesang) und Herr Reymond (Violine) mit (**).

Schreiben von August Stradal (Wien) an Bernhard Deubler (St. Florian) auf einer Postkarte mit Otto Böhlers Karikatur "Hanslick, Kalbeck und Heuberger als Tintenbuben":
     Bittet um Zusendung von zwei weiteren Ansichtskarten von Bruckners Geburtshaus in Ansfelden, die er für Leipzig brauche. Neujahrhundertswünsche und Dank für Deublers Karte (***).

The Gazette Nr. 305 (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) berichtet auf S. 10 von der Kirchenmusik am 24.12.1899:
"    THE MIDNIGHT MASS
Celebrated Last Evening in Catholic Churches.
       MUSIC WAS GLORIUS.
[... Kathedrale St. James ...]
               NOTRE DAME.
     Midnight Mass at the church of Notre Dame was attended by what was probably the largest congregation the church has ever held. To say that it was the largest would not be an exaggeration [...] Notre Dame must certainly be awarded the palm. The musical service had been carefully arranged. It opened with Adam's "Arise Christians," a tenor solo sung with deepest feeling and most impressive. The Kyrie, Sanctus and Agnus, of A. Bruckner's mass, and the credo of Ambroise Thomas, Saint-Saen's [sic] Gloria in Excelsis and the carols were also. At the beginning of the service the singing was excellent, and thoroughly enjoyable; towards the end the boys who comprise the major portion od the choir grew perceptibly fatigued. This had some little effect upon the quality of the singing. [...] The principal soloists were: Messrs. H. P. Bruyere, Z. Morin, J. B Dupuis, F. Langlois, A. Letourneau, H. Renaud, L. Scherer, E. Gagne, J. Labonte." (°).
Am 23.12.1899 war auf Seite 9 die Kirchenmusik (incl. des Programms und der Ausführenden) für die Christmetten in 12 Kirchen angekündigt worden, jedoch nicht für Notre Dame, so dass über Bruckners Messe nichts zu erfahren ist (andere Zeitungen stehen derzeit nicht zur Verfügung) (°°).
