     If operatic inspiration is in the desert, the richness and variety of orchestral new works and revivals of good compositions of the earlier school has a most hopeful note for musical conditions. Beside the many interesting things presentred to the American public for the first time last season by the different orchestras, notably the Boston Symphony, the Berlin Philharmonic with Nikisch at the head will next season give a number of little known orchestral works, among them Max Schilling's "Witsches' Song," a melodrama, Vincent d'Indy's "Médée," which is new; Bruckner's ninth symphony; [...
