     Emil Paur, whose term as conductor of the Pittsburg orchestra was inaugurated with the opening concert of the tenth season last november [...].

     He is about 40 [sic] years old and was born at Czernovitz, Austrialia [sic]. When a young man, he entered the Vienna conservatory of music, where he was a pupil of Hellmesberger, Dessoff and Anton Bruckner.
