Hinweis auf die Aufführung der 9. Symphonie am 15.3.1906 (Pensionsfondkonzert des Wiener Konzertvereins) in der Deutschen Zeitung auf S. 3 und S. 11 (*).

 

The Sun Nr. 169 (New York) erwähnt Bruckner auf S. 8 in einer Konzertbesprechung:

"              THE BOSTON ORCHESTRA.

     [... am 15.2.1906 in der Carnegie Hall, zuvor "Egmont" und Schumanns Klavierkonzert (mit Harold Bauer) ... Aufbau der Symphonie ...]. The general impression gained from last night's performance was not extremely deep, yet the composition was genuinely interesting. It was a striking example of the state of musical thought  in Germany, where it has created something like a sensation. The style is a sort of compound[?] of Bruckner and Strauss. Instruments are made to do all sorts of things not according to the practice of the founders of the modern orchestra, and intentional ugliness is abundant. [... pro und contra ... virtuoses Orchester ...]." (**).
