Aufführung der 5. Symphonie (und der »Harzreise«) durch das Hofopernorchester unter Mottl in einem Akademie-Konzert in München (*).

Vorbesprechung zur 7. Symphonie in The Minneapolis Tribune Nr. 193 (Star Tribune, Minneapolis) auf S. 4:
"BRUCKNER SYMPHONY BY THE ORCHESTRA TONIGHT
For the first time in the history of the organization, the Minneapolis Symphony orchestra will play a Bruckner symphony at its concert in the Auditorium this evening. Anton Bruckner was a humble schoolmaster and organist in an obscure village of upper Austria, who conceived the noble ambition of placing absolute music where Richard Wagner placed the music of the opera. Not fully successful in attaining this great purpose, Bruckner frequently touched the heights to which he aspired, notably in the Seventh symphony, to be played this evening. Great and absorbingly beautiful throughout, it reaches its greatest point in the second movement, an Adagio that has been compared to the funeral march in Beethoven's Heroic Symphony. This Adagio may be considered a memorial to Richard Wagner, for though it was written before Wagner's death, it was inspired by a contemplation of that dreaded occurence.
Richard Czerwonky will be tonight's soloist [... Joseph Joachim, Berlioz ...]." (**).

Symphonie. Vor der Pause erklingen Werke von Berlioz ("Römischer Karneval") und Joseph Joachim (Violinkonzert mit Richard Czerwonky) (°).
