     The famous "Romantic" symphony of Bruckner was the first number at the sixth and last concert in the Philharmonic society's historic series Wednesday evening. Gustav Mahler also conducted some Richard Strauss numbers; two  preludes from the opera "Guntram" and "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks." (**).
