Bruckner wird erwähnt im Nachruf auf Mottl in The Brooklyn Citizen Nr. 3 auf S. 7:
"CONDUCTOR MOTTL DEAD AFTER LONG ILLNESS
[...]
MUNICH, July 3.–Felix Mottl, director of the Royal Opera House, is dead, his death being caused by hardening of the arteries and pneumonia. Mottl was married on June 23 to Senta Fassbender. His marriage to his first wife was dissolved August 5, 1910. Mottl was conductor of Wagnerian operas at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York for one year.
Mottl spent one year in this city, [... hat nach einem Jahr aus Enttäuschung den Vertrag nicht verlängert ... München ...].
Mottl was, like Felix Weingartner, a native of Vienna. He was born at the suburb of Unter St. Veit on August 24, 1856. He sang as a boy in a church choir and his fine soprano voice created a sensation. He studied at the Vienna Conservatory under Hellmesberger, who taught him conducting, with Bruckner for theory and Dessau [recte Dessoff] for composition. His teachers of pianoforte were Scheur [recte Schenner?] and Door. [... 1880 Karlsruhe, seit 1886 in Bayreuth ... eigene Werke ... erste Ehe 1892 mit Henriette Standhartner ...]."
