The Boston Globe Nr. 137 kündigt auf S. 53 die Aufführung der 7. Symphonie für den 19./20.11.1915 an:

"Messrs Witek and Ferir Soloists at the Symphony

     The fifth program of the Symphony Orchestra which will played next Friday afternoon and Saturday evening consists of only two numbers, Bruckner's Seventh Symphony and Mozart's Symphonic Concerto for violin, viola and orchestra. Bruckner's symphony has long been a favorite with Dr Muck and he has played it here more often than any other works of this composer. In fact, it had the last performance of any Bruckner symphony here, two years ago, for none of them was played last year.

     Mozart's Symphonic Concerto will be a novelty to by far the greater part of the patrons of the Symphony concerts. In 1892 Messrs Kneisel and Loeffler played the first movement, but that is the only time the work has appeared on a Symphony program

     It will serve to display the manifold excellencies of musicianship of Mr Witek, concert master of the orchestra, and Mr Ferir, the pricipal [sic] viola." (**).

 

Die New York Tribune Nr. 25200 bringt auf S. 19 (= S. 3 des 3. Teils) einen Rückblick auf die Saison 1885/86, in dem auch eine Bruckner-Aufführung [3. Symphonie am 4./5.12.1885] erwähnt wird:

"         Novelty of the Song Recital Vogue in New York

NO DOUBT a few musical entertainments planned for the coming week have eluded our notice, but the datebook bears testimony to thirty public concerts in the City of New York [... deutliche Veränderung in 30 Jahren ... als Beispiel] the entire season of 1885-'86. This season is chosen because it was an exceptionally brilliant one in the local concert rooms, as in the opera houses. Mr. Theodore Thomas was conducting the concerts of the Philharmonic Society [... und Jugendkonzerte ... dazu andere Konzerte unterWalter Damrosch und Frank van der Stucken ...].

     It is doubtful if any season since has seen so many fine operas of the serious and comic genre as were brought forward between November, 1885, and April, 1886. [... acht Beispiele ...]. We heard new symphonies by Bruckner, Dvorak, Fuchs and X. Scharwenka. "Parsifal" came to us as an oratorio, [... Chorwerke ... kaum Kammermusik ... etc. ... Vergleich zum Angebot der kommenden Woche (detaillierte Auflistung, darunter Schönbergs "Pelleas und Melisande") ...]." (***).

 

Die Mississippi-Blätter Nr. 318 (Westliche Post, St. Louis, Missouri) schreiben auf S. 29 (Text wie am 12.11.1915):

"             Oesterreich=Ungarn.

[...].

     Brünn. Otto Kitzler, der verdienstvolle Brünner Musikdirektor und einstige Lehrer Anton Bruckners, wurde dieser Tage in Graz zu Grabe getragen. Er war über 81 Jahre alt geworden und während seines ereignisreichen und tatenfrohen Lebens mit manchen Großen unserer deutschen Kunst in nähere Fühlung gekommen." (°).
