The Chicago Tribune Nr. 55 bringt auf S. 14 eine Konzertbesprechung, in der Eric Delamarter bei Gustav Mahler Brucknersche Züge konstatiert:

"      MUSIC and the MUSICIANS

ONCE or twice in a season [... elektrisierendes Konzert ... über die Solistin ...].

     The Mahler symphony (the fourth) revealed another trait of her work. The symphony itself is an enigma, [...], Against its favor are its length and the dangerous habit, which was Bruckner's handicap also–too many pauses for breath between sections. It is almost naive in its open work style, and rich with a racy fantasy throughout.
