Ankündigung der 3. Symphonie für den 16./17.2.1917 in The Los Angeles Times auf S. 31 (= S. 1 des 3. Teils):
"              MUSICAL.

SOME LOCAL PREMIERES OF THE NEAR PAST AND FUTURE.
                By Edwin Schallert.
Nearly every composer at some time during his career has had the ambition to write an opera. [... ausführlich über das Opernschaffen ... lokale Opern-Premieren ... leichte Muse (Victor Herbert)].

Programme of Week.
While Los Angeles will not have an opportunity to hear any new operas this week by local composers, it is at least a matter of note that one Southern California composer is to be presented in prominent fashion in the week's events. This is George Edwards of San Diego, whose musical setting of Olive Schreiner's "The Hunter" will be presented [...]. His work is very promising.
The symphony concert will also be notable in that it will record the first presentation of a symphony by Bruckner locally. That strange composer's No. 3 in D minor will be given. It promises distinct novelty. The remaining number on the programme will be Saint-Saens's "Phaeton." " [... weitere Konzerte ...].
