Teils):
"       German Stars on U. S. Screen
Other Countries are Giving More Attention to Pictures.
Here are the star actresses of the best movies made in Germany:
Pola Negri. | Asta Neilsen. [sic] | Henry Porten. | Maria Carmi. | Erna Morena. | Mia May. | Fern Andra.
It is worth while noting these names. For some, if not all, will become well known in the United States.
All indications from this distance are that German movies are further advanced than those made in other countries of Europe.
Germany's leadership in drama in the new century is reflected in the German movies. [...].
[... Literatur in Deutschland "at low tide" ...]. Most other arts than drama have advanced further in other countries of Europe.
German music of the last century is exalted by those who seldom mention the companion facts as set forth by Paul Rosenberg.
     In this fashion:
"Almost simultaneously with the rise of Russian music and the new birth of the French, that of Germany has deteriorated. The great line of composers which descended from Bach and Handel for two centuries has wavered and diminished visibly during the last three decades. The proud tradition seems to have reached a temporary halt in Wagner, Bruckner and Brahms."
Curiously, most of the best known movie actresses in German movies are not Germans
Pola Negri is said to have come from Warsaw. [... über die anderen Filmschauspielerinnen ...]." (**).
