"HERBST NOTED AS A LEADER

     Professor Gottfried Herbst, who will direct the Washington State college orchestra in the Beethoven 150th anniversary program to be given at the Lewis and Clark high school Saturday night, is not only an orchestra conductor, but a capable band leader.

     Professor Herbst has conducted chamber music organizations both in Europe and in the United States. Because of his familiarity with such orchestral works as the symphonies of Beethoven, Tschaikowsky´, Brahms, Bruckner and Strauss, he directs them without the score.
