Die Steyrer Zeitung meldet, daß als Erträgnis des Konzerts vom 9.3.1922 40000 Kronen für den Linzer Gedenktafelfonds beigesteuert wurden (*).

 

Aufführung der 4. Symphonie durch das Wiener Tonkünstler-Orchester unter Anton Konrath im Großen Musikvereinssaal in Wien. Solistin in Arien und Liedern von Mozart, Liszt und Edvard Grieg ist die Sopranistin Martha Manzer, Solist in Lalos Violinkonzert Symphonie espagnole ist Josef Peischer (oder Josef Zimbler?) (**).

 

The New York Times Nr. 23437 sieht auf S. 101 (= S. 5 des 6. Teils) bei Walter Braunfels Einflüsse Bruckners:

"MUSIC NOTES FROM OTHER CENTRES

[...]

                    GERMANY.

[...]

     A new "Te Deum" for chorus, solos and orchestra, by Walter Braunfels, has been given in Cologne, conducted by Abendroth. It is said to show influences of Beethoven, Bruckner and Berlioz, especially in the disregard of the limitations of the human voice and the endeavor to escape from the liturgical limitations. Dr. Jacobs, writing in the Cologne Gazette, is reminded of Bruckner's remark in Austrian dialect: "When they can't think of anything more to say, then it's ecclesiastical." Braunfels made a week of it in Cologne, conducting his "Birds" at the opera, and played his piano concerto and other works, and a concerto of Mozart." (***).
