The Washington Times Nr. 12250 berichtet auf S. 45 (= S. 3 des Zeitungsteils) von neuen Briefmarken, darunter auch von der mit Bruckners Porträt [IKO 142]:
"Story of a Rare Stamp Reads Like a Romance
[... über die Entstehung und weitere Geschichte der seltensten, nur einmal vorhandenen und kürzlich versteigerten Briefmarke (1-cent British Guiana) ...]. The copy is a poor one, dark magenta in color, but somewhat rubbed." Nevertheless, it is revered by philatelists as the rarest stamp in the world.
To the gallery of famous men portrayed on postage stamps will be added this month stamp portraits of the composers Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Bruckner, Johann Strauss, and H. Wolf, all of whom figure on a series of charity-cum-postage stamps to be sold by the Austrian postoffice at a premium of ten times face value. The highly artistic designs have been prepared by Dr. Rudolf Junk, while the dies have been engraved in taille-douce by Prof. Ferdinand Schirnboeck. The stamps will be issued in the denominations 2½, 5, 7½, 10, 25, 50 and 100 kronen, and in addition to the normal issue, comprising 200,000 sets, there is to be a special printing of 14 copies of each value on Japan paper, on behalf of stamp collectors."
