Das Neue Wiener Tagblatt Nr. 293 bringt auf S. 6 einen mit "Dr. E. D." [Ernst Decsey] signierten Artikel "Brucknerkonzert", der sich mit der Aufführung der 8. Symphonie unter einem amerikanischen Dirigenten [Chester MacKee, am 31.10.1922] und den Besonderheiten der Beziehung Bruckner-Amerika befasst (*).

 

Die Altoona Tribune Nr. 262 (Altoona, Pennsylvania) stellt auf S. 4 die Geburtstagskinder der Woche vor, darunter einen Bruckner-Schüler:

"          HISTORY CLASS

     October 28–Henri Jerome Bertini, pianist and composer, was born at London, 1798. [...].

     October 30–Eugene Gruenberg, violinist, was born at Lemberg, Galicia, 1854. Pupil at the Vienna Conservatory of Heisser, (violin) Bruckner and Dessoff, (composition) and Hellemberger [sic] (chamber-music, and orchestral music). For a number of years Gruenberg was a member of the Leipzig Gewandhaus orchestra, then for seven years he played in the Boston symphony, resigning that position to become a member of the faculty of the New England conservatory. Wrote a number of very good works for orchestra, but is better known by his "Violinist's Manual," and his "Theory of Violin playing."

     November 1–Alexander Lambert, was born at Warsaw, Poland, 1862, Received his first pianoforte instruction from his father, and at the age of 12 was sent, by Rubenstein's [sic] advice, to the Vienna conservatory, where he graduated at the age of 16. In 1881, he came to New York and gave concerts in Steinway Hall, then returned to Europe for several concert tours of Germany and Russia. After further tours in this country, he became director of the New York college of music. A few of his works for piano have been published, as well as a romance for 'cello, and an Ave Maria for soprano.
