BERLIN, Feb. 2.–While General Dawes and the other members of the reparations commission's committee of experts are studying German finances, and General Allen is preparing his humane charity campaign against the misery of the children and middle classes, the writer has been worrying about when an opportunity would present itself to exhibit Germany's gratitude to America by some better means than soon forgotten words.
Chance carried the writer with his question into one of the German opera houses this week. [... wundervolle Wiedererweckung in Göttingen (Julius Caesar und Rodalinde) ... über Händel und sein lang vergessenes Opernschaffen ... geeignete Stimmen gibt es in Amerika ...].
And the post humous thanks of this genius simultaneously reminds that humanity also serves itself if it does not permit to atrophy the spiritual and intellectual powers of a nation from which humanity received the sounding paradises of a Haendel, Bache [sic], Gluck, Beethoven, Mozart, Hayden [sic], Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Wagner, Bruckner, Mahler and Strauss."
