"Is There a Literature Of Organ Since Bach?
[...]. And the organists who have happened to be real composers, front rank men, have had no particular use for their own instrument. Look at Franck, for instance. I don't deny he wrote a little good stuff for the organ, but you see when he had something really big to say he wanted an orchestra or a piano or strings. And Bruckner–well, I haven't much use for Bruckner, for he was a typical organist-composer–and typical in neglecting his own instrument." "But what about men like Vierne?" we managed to interject, "or Rheinberger? Some pianists will tell you that as an organ-composer Rheinberger is second only to Bach." "Quite. So he may be. Doesn't that confirm what I say? [...]. Why have the great masters almost unanimously agreed in ignoring the organ? There must be an explanation. Can any organist give it? – (Editorial in Musical Standard, London)." (*).

In The Tablet Nr. 40 (Brooklyn, New York) [Wochenzeitung der Diözese Brooklyn] berichtet auf S. 8 der Berlin-Korrespondent Dr. Willy Elmdorff von der Feier zur Einführung des ersten Berliner Bischofs Dr. Christian Schreiber am Buß- und Bettag (20.11.1929):
"BISHOP SCHREIBER TALKS ON LABOR
[...]
On November 20, the Buss-und-Bettag, or national day of penance and prayer, 12,000 Catholics gathered in the great hall of the Sportpalast to pay honor to their new bishop. [...]. The celebrated Philharmonic Orchestra of Berlin, under the direction of Camillo Hildebrand, played Catholic music selected from the works of Richard Strauss, Anton Bruckner [Adagio der 3. Symphonie] and Franz Liszt. The program was broadcast by radio.
Nothing was more interesting than the Bishop's address.
[... ausführlich über die Ansprache des Bischofs ...]." (**).
