The Sun (The Baltimore Sun, Maryland) bringt auf S. 59 (= S. 5 des Zeitungsteils) einen New Yorker Musikbrief von John Alan Haughton, in dem auch die Aufführung der 7. Symphonie in einem Konzert mit Beethovens Fünfter [am 4., 6. oder 7.3.1931] angesprochen wird:

     Toscanini gave a somewhat daring program, consisting of the Bruckner Seventh Symphony and the Fifth of Beethoven. The Bruckner gets no shorter with frequent hearings, nor does it sound more interesting. The works of this composer, so sincere, so well-written, almost make one believe that they are in an idiom we do not comprehend.

     Koussivitzky [sic] and the Boston Symphony gave us a novelty in Stravinsky's Symphonie de Psaumes, and another in a Symphony by Honegger. Both were composed for the orchestra's recent fiftieth anneversary." (*).

 

The Brooklyn Daily Eagle Nr. 73 gibt auf S. 66 (= S. 6 des 6. Teils) einen Überblick über europäische Ausstellungen und Festivals:

Der Rundfunksender Leipzig (angeschlossen: Dresden) bringt die Übertragung der "Anton-Bruckner-Stunde" aus der Propsteikirche St. Trinitatis von 18 bis 19:15 Uhr. Mitwirkende: Propstei-Kirchenchor unter G. Trexler, Annemarie Claus-Schöbel (Alt), Dr. Georg Gertkemper (Orgel). Programm: Ecce sacerdos, Tota pulchra es, Ave Maria [WAB 7], Locus iste, Virga Jesse (***).

 

Radio Prag bringt zwischen 18:00 und 19:00 Uhr eine Deutsche Sendung mit der Prager Universitätssängerschaft Barden. Eine von elf Nummern ist Bruckners "Mitternacht" (°).
