Aufführung des Chors "O Lord Most Holy" [= "Ave Maria" WAB 6] im Abendgottesdienst in der First Methodist Episcopal Church in Lafayette (Indiana) (*).

Das Edmonton Journal Nr. 267 (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) bringt auf S. 12 die Anekdote nach der Aufführung der 7. Symphonie in Argentinien [1922] (Text wie am 8.2.1931):
"         All in the Point of View!
Richard Strauss told the following story in Paris:
"When I was giving concerts in Buenos Aires with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra we played Bruckner's Seventh symphony. Behind the stage stoof all the young Argentine composers in full dress and white gloves. The last note of the symphony was the signal for a tremendous ovation. Thereupon the solo hornest [sic] of the orchestra Professor Stiegler, went up to the group of composers and said to them: 'You see, gentlemen, this is the way we peasants compose. Now just imagine how our regular composers compose.' " ". (**).
