"On request of Reichsintendant Glasmeier, the Linz Radio orchestra played in the baroque church of St. Florian (where Bruckner is buried beside his beloved organ) the composer's last work, the Ninth symphony in its original version. The most famous conductors have conducted the Orchestra of the Radio of "Grossdeutschland". This year, it was Furtwängler who conducted Bruckner's swan song. The performance was of unearthly beauty and all-impressive sound fullness."
