The New York Times Nr. 15195 berichtet auf S. 7 von Gerickes Ankunft und seinen Plänen:
"          HERR GERICKE ARRIVES.

                 Talks of His Plans.

Wilhelm Gericke, who has been selected to succeed Emil Pauer as conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, arrived from Europe yesterday after an absence from this country of nine years. [...].
In discussing his plans, Herr Gericke said that of the many new works which he had regiliously gone over, he had thus far concluded to give only two, viz. The symphonies of Sinding and the symphonies of Bruckner. He may not, however, give them in this city, their rendition here depending greatly upon their success in Boston. [... Konzerte in NY in der Carnegie Hall, erstmals am 9.10.1898 in NY, am 10.10.1898 in Brooklyn ...]. (*).

The Sun Nr. 22 (New York) stellt auf S. 7 Gericke in einem Interview vor:
"BOSTON SYMPHONY'S LEADER HERE.
Wilhelm Gericke Returns from Europe After Nine Year's Absence–His Plans.

Wilhelm Gericke [...] arrived here yesterday on the Kaiser Friederich. [... neun Jahre in Europa ...].
"I am quite well again," Mr. Gericke said yesterday to a SUN reporter at the Hotel Belvedere. "I was broken down in health when I returned to Europe [... Tätigkeiten dort ... acht neue (französische) Orchestermitglieder, zum Teil aus Damroschs Orchester in NY ...].
"I only know now of two new numbers which I shall give. They are both symphonies, one by Bruckner and the other by Sinding, a Swedish composer. [... Wunsch nach mehr neuen Werken von Wert ... vorerst solche nur in Boston ... Ort und Termin in NY ...]. Miss Adele Aus Der Ohe was also a passenger on the Kaiser Friederich." (**).
