The Manchester Guardian Nr. 18473 berichtet auf S. 12 vom Konzert am 16.10.1905 mit der 3. Symphonie:
"                  MUSIC IN BERLIN.
Our musical correspondent in Berlin writes: –
On Monday evening the 16th inst., the first concert of the Philharmonic Society this season was given to a crowded and enthusiastic audience. A new experiment had been made in the arrangement of the programme, which perhaps English concert-givers may find it worth while to imitate. [... mehrere Stücke eines Komponisten (hier: Beethoven und Brahms) im Zusammenhang ...]. The pièce de résistance of the evening was the great Symphony in D minor, No. 3, by Anton Bruckner, which Professor Nikisch conducted with masterly power and success. This work was originally produced by Richard Strauss at the series of concerts of the works of modern composers which he gave some years ago, and which unfortunately fell through. Professor Nikisch has shown himself very active in the propaganda of Bruckner's music, and on Monday night he evinced how thoroughly he had studied and how completely he could identify himself with the complicated structure and elaborate orchestration of Bruckner's score, how vividly he could give life and meaning to the luxuriant imagery of the music. The monumental pomp of the Symphony was admirably expressed. The wonderful poetry of the adagio was clearly pourtrayed. The scherzo was taken a trifle too fast. But for this its effect would have been electrifying." (*).
