The Philadelphia Inquirer Nr. 127 kündigt auf S. 21 (= S. 5 des 2. Teils) die 4. Symphonie für das 4. Konzert [am 9./10.11.1906] an:
" NOTES OF THE MUSICAL SEASON
[...]
The fourth program of the Philadelphia Orchestra for the current season has been announced and, like those which have preceded it during the past two weeks, it is an arrangement of much merit and interest. Its leading feature is the "Romantic" symphony in E-flat major of Anton Bruckner, which has not previously been given here under Mr. Scheel's direction. This is a beautiful score, distinctively modern in its spirit, but not degenerating into the formless incoherence toward which so many modern composers incline. It was played by Mr. Gericke a few seasons ago [siehe die Anmerkung], and the impression which it then produced was such that there will be many to welcome the opportunity for hearing it again which is now to be provided. Bruckner is one of the most gifted among composers of the modern school, and this symphony in E-flat major is a good deal of a masterpiece. The other two orchestral selections [... Lohengrin-Vorspiel, Liszts Tasso, Henselt-Klavierkonzert mit Harold Randolph ...]." (°°).
