Aufführung von Helgoland im 1. Ordentlichen Konzert des Wiener Männergesangvereins unter Eduard Kremser. Richard Heuberger wirkt als Dirigent einiger anderer Nummern mit. Es spielt das Orchester des Wiener Konzertvereins. Der Chor zählt 400 Kehlen. Bei der Gralsfeier aus Wagners Parsifal wirken die Herren Maschat und Dr. Halatschka (als Parsifal bzw. Gurnemanz) mit. Aufgeführt werden auch der Pilgerchor aus Tannhäuser und Werke von Josef Reiter, Viktor Keldorfer, Schubert und Heuberger. Außerdem tritt die elfjärige Pianistin Mena Töpfer mit vier Solostücken auf (°). Die Konzerte gelten quasi als "Generalprobe" für das Berliner Konzert des Männergesangvereins [am 8.12.1906] (°°).

     The student of orchestral composition, who is confronted this winter by about as crowded a concert season as any in the musical history of New York, must rejoice in the helpful and suggestive reading which he will find in this book of Felix Weingartner's. Side by side with this merciless analysis of Brahms he has some warm sayings on Anton Brückner, his rival, whom he criticises for his lack of skill in the development of his ideas, but praises for the merits of his themes and for his devotion to a noble ideal. "I should like Nature," he says, "to give us a musician reuniting in himself the qualities of the two composers, the immense imagination of Brückner with the knowledge of Brahms. From such a combination would arise an artistic figure of the highest possible value."
