The Chicago Tribune Nr. 41 kündigt auf S. 12 (= S. 2 des 2. Teils) die geplante Aufführung der 5. Symphonie [oder 8. Symphonie??] an:
"     The list of the novelties of the orchestral season has been made out [... so lang wie die Liste anderer Musikzentren ...]. The striking point about this collection of names and titles is the number of new symphonies–that form whose requiem has been sung so often. There are few new names among the composers, and anything of American architecture is small in quantity, but it must be remembered that Mr. Stock looked most earnestly in the direction of Europe, and, of course, where he sought he found.
Following is the list in full:
Symphony No. 1, A flat major  . . . . . .  Elgar
Symphony No. 8 [sic], B flat  . . . .  Bruckner
Symphony No. 1, E flat  . . . .  . . . . . .  Gliere
[... weitere 24 Orchesterwerke ...]."
