     The editor of this department heard Theodore Thomas conduct the Cincinnati festival when he was in his seventieth year. Nor did he ever seem more vigorous- He led an orchestra of nearly 100 men, a chorus of some 225 and the soloists through a series of programs that would have taxed the strength of a man less capable musically. Among the works he conducted during those three days were Bach's "B minor" mass, [... Beethoven, Elgar, Richard Strauss ...] and "Til Eulenspiegel" [sic]; a Bruckner symphony, and one of Mozart's and many other works, among which was the Tschaikowsky "1812" overture.
