Aufführung der 5. Symphonie unter Peter van Anrooy (*).

Die Lancaster New Era (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) berichtet [verspätet, dafür aber mit individuellem Text] auf S. 4 über die österreichischen Briefmarken [mit IKO 142]:
"AUSTRIAN MUSICIANS ON NEW POSTAGE STAMP ISSUE
     Stamp collectors, if non other, will be interested in a series recently issue [sic] by the Austrian government comprising a series of seven stamps bearing the portrait of a famous Austrian musician. The 1 1-2 kronen shows Franz [sic] Haydn in the village of Rohrau more than 190 years ago. His illustrious pupil, Ludwig van Beethoven, appeard on the 7 1-2 kronen and the 5 kronen is adorned with a medallion portrait of Wolfgang Mozart. Franz Schubert figures on the 10 kronen. Prince of organists and composer of world-wide reputation, Anton Bruckner, adorns the 25 kronen, while Johann Strauss, famous as the composer of the best known waltz melodies. is to be seen on the 50 kronen. On the last value appears Hugo Wolf, a native of Styria and a composer of note [sic], who attained success after his early years of hardship." (**).
