Der Evening Courier Nr. 79 (Courier-Post, Camden, New Jersey) bespricht auf S. 5 Frederick Stocks Bearbeitung der "Rheinischen" und kommt dabei auf die Kürzungspraxis vieler Dirigenten zu sprechen:

FREDERICK STOCK, in his renovated version of Schumann's "Rhenish Symphony," [... über die Bearbeitung und Stocks Beweggründe ... ] ... greater difficulty than the "musical surgery" in practice among most conductors for many years. Here was no mere cutting a couple of measures here, and a few more there, to reduce the length of such works as Bruckner's symphonies. Here was not the simple job of editing a few notes patching up a few hamonies or revising tempi. [...
