Aufführung der 8. Symphonie durch das Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra unter Fritz Reiner im 12. Konzert um 20:30 Uhr im Emery Auditorium in Cincinnati. Auf dem Programm stehen außerdem Mozarts "Figaro"-Ouvertüre und nach der Pause Beethovens Violinkonzert mit Mischa Elman. Wiederholung vom 24.1.1930 (**).

Besprechung des gestrigen Konzerts durch William Smith Goldenburg in The Cincinnati Enquirer Nr. 25 auf S. 8:

"    Symphony Concert

[... Fritz Reiner ...] converted tedious moments into  periods of rare interest. [... ausführlich über Mozarts Ouvertüre ...] the somber-tinted Eighth Smyphony [sic] of Bruckner which followed immediately.

    A ponderous, solemn opening impresses the listener with a feeling of grandeur [...].

    For sheer nobility of style there is much in Bruckner to admire. [... ausführliche, durchaus wohlwollende Besprechung ... im Scherzo "modern syncopation comparable only to the idiom styled "jazz."" ... großes Lob für die Interpretation ... "a sheer joy when strings alone play" ... "solo violoncello, as played by Karl Kirksmith" ... ausführlich über Elman und das Beethoven-Konzert ...] (***).
