The Minneapolis Sunday Tribune Nr. 148 (Star Tribune, Minneapolis, Minnesota) bringt auf S. 52 = S. 4 des Zeitungsteils) eine Buchbesprechung von James Davies, in der auch Bruckner erwähnt wird:
"New Light on Brahms Now Given to English Readers
[... Richard Specht vor 2 Jahren, Übersetzung von Eric Blom nahe an der deutschen "sentence and paragraph structure" ... Urteil von Thomas Mann ...].
In fact this volume is as complete as any volume of this nature needs to be. It is authoritative, positive, never sycophantic[.] He does not agree with Brahms in the latter's estimate of Bruckner and never hesitates to express his opinion, for he believes Bruckner one of the musical gods of the ages. Brahms was most positively of the opposite opinion. Both were wrong.
If a reader wishes to study the life of Brahms or to follow his development of his genius, or wishes to peer into the intimacies of Brahms' creative purpose this book can be most highly recommended." (**).
The Brooklyn Daily Eagle Nr. 290 erwähnt im Porträt von Ernest Schelling auf S. 18, dass er Schüler Bruckners gewesen ist [Text wie am 1.11.1929]:
" Schelling Began Young
Born in Belvidere, N. J., Ernest Schelling made his public debut as a pianist at four and a half. At seven he was studying in Paris; at eight he made a concert tour of Europe; at nine he was in Russia, and at nine he was in Russia, and at 10 he was in Switzerland, always devoting his time to the piano. He began his studies in the Paris Conservatoire under Mathias, and continued with Moszkowski, Gotschius, Bruckner, Leschetizky, Huber, Barth and Paderewski, with whom he worked for three years.
During the World War he was a captain in the American Army and was decorated with the distinguished service medal by the United States and with the Legion of Honor by France.
