Brief von Bruno Walter an [einen Verleger?] Posselt:
"      New York 4th May 1944
    Dear Mr. Posselt!
          Of the biographies mentioned in your letter are – in my opinion – two which deserve your interest as publisher: "Auer" and "Goellerich". I do not know "Danninger" and "Loerke" X [Verweis auf eine Fußnote: "x also not Orel"]. "Halm" is no biography but a work on the Symphonies of Bruckner. "Louis" is antiquated, "Decsey" seems to me superficial and "Haas" very dry. "Goellerich" was a close friend of Bruckner, is rich in material and is considered in Austria the "classical" biograph of the master. "Auer" is the later biograph and his work may be considered deeper in understanding with perhaps less "personal touch". – I suggest you choose between [Seite 2 (nicht abgebildet):] […] I don’t exactly remember if Auer’s is a real biography or a book on Bruckner the composer. But I happen to know Auer personally and to have found him full of deep under-standing and I remeber also a very favorable impression from his book. [...]" (**).
