Öffentliche Generalprobe der 9. Symphonie unter Ferdinand Löwe im Großen Saal des Wiener Konzerthauses (*).

 

Darauf hatte auch die Österreichische Volkszeitung Nr. 127 auf S. 7 aufmerksam gemacht (**),

die auf derselben Seite einen Fehler im Artikel vom 5.5.1924 berichtigt (Neumargaretner Kirche statt Baumgartner Kirche) (***).

 

Das Neue Wiener Tagblatt Nr. 127 kündigt auf S. 10 an, dass am 15.5.1924 der letzte Abend des Helm-Hattingbergschen Bruckner-Zyklus [prov. WAB 86] (mit Abschiedsrede von Max Soeser und mit einer Ausstellung von Autographen aus dem Nachlass Dr. Theodor Helms) stattfindet. Die Ausstellung könne auch am 18.5.1924 vormittags besichtigt werden (°).

 

Besprechung des gestrigen Konzerts mit dem "Ave Maria" [WAB 6] in The Pittsburgh Gazette Times auf S. 16:

"                  Music

     [... in der Fülle an Konzerten gibt es einige], which the writer would be sorry to have missed, and one of these was the program of church music given at the Bellefield Presbyterian Church by the Cecelia [sic] Choir of Western Theological Seminary last night under the conductorship of Charles N. Boyd. This is the only a capella chorus that Pittsburgh or, to the best of my knowledge, Western Pennsylvania can boast of and under the circumstances, such music would have met with very wide appreciation.

     The prevailing elements in the program was essentially Russian, [... Melancholie ...].

     Mr. Boyd's choir is small, but very select and beautifully balanced. [... am anspruchsvollsten: Peter Christian Lutkin ...]. Other numbers less difficult, but highly interesting, were "O Lord Most Holy," by Bruckner and "Hear, Lord Our God," by Tschaikowsky; [... Tertius Noble ...].

     Earl Collins, who played seevral organ numbers between the various choruses, set himself a very difficult task [... Karg-Elert, Cesar Franck ...].
