Veranstaltungen des Leitmeritzer Bruckner-Festes: Um 10 Uhr beim Pontifikalamt in der Domkirche Aufführung der e-Moll-Messe mit dem Domchor, verstärkt durch Mitglieder des Gesang- und Musikvereins, und das Musikvereins-Orchester unter Franz Zeman. Um halb 12 Uhr vom Turm der Stadtkirche Vinzenz Gollers Bläserfanfaren nach Motiven Bruckners, um 15 Uhr im großen Saal der Turnhalle Festkonzert mit Aufführung der g-Moll-Ouvertüre und des 112. Psalms unter Leitung von Franz Moißl und - unter Franz Zeman - der 5. Symphonie mit Chor und Orchester des Gesang- und Musikvereins und am 20 Uhr im kleinen Saal der Turnhalle Festversammlung der Deutschen Brucknergemeinde Leitmeritz (*).

The Sunday Times (The Central New Jersey Home News, New Brunswick, New Jersey) stellt auf S. 20 (= S. [4] der " Boy's and Girl's Section") ein Rätsel, in dem ein Bruckner-Schüler gesucht wird:

"FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE

     The cash prize of one dollar this week is offered for the best solution of the folowing [sic] music box questions which will disclose the identity of this week's Mysterious Musician who was born in Kalischt, Bohemia, in 1860, and died in Vienna in 1911. [... Iglau, Wien ...] He studied pianoforte with Epstein and composition and counterpoint at the Vienna Conservatory.

     From 1883 to 1885 [... weitere Lebensstationen ...].

     Among modern conductors our Mysterious Musician was one of the most imposing figures. [... über das Schaffen ...].

     His identity will be disclosed in answering the following questions which follow

     1. Who wrote the oratorio "Elijah?"

     2. Who was Heifitz's [sic] violin instructor?

     3. Who wrote the "Surprise Symphony?"

     4. Who wrote the "Second Hungarian Rhapsody?"

     5. Who wrote the "Enigma Variations?"

     6. Who wrote "William Tell Overture?"

     7. Who is the Mysterious Musician whose family name is spelled by the first letters in each of the family names of the above musicians?

     Write out your answers at once, address them to the Music Man at 342 George street, and mail them early in the week so that they will be on his desk by Wednesday." (**).
